Two King Tiger Tanks of the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 in the vicinity of Gyöngyös, Hungary, on 15 November 1944.
King Tiger ‘300’ of the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 509 during the attempt to relieve Budapest, January-February 1945. From 18 January 1945 to 8 February 1945, the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 509 destroyed 203 Soviet tanks, 145 Soviet guns and 5 Soviet aircraft with the total loss of 10 King Tiger Tanks and was mentioned in the Wehrmacht Daily Report.
In early April 1945, King Tiger ‘231’ of the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 509 was one of the few tanks to make it back to within the borders of the Reich from Hungary.
